Military compensation and rehabilitation claims
Claims for military compensation and rehabilitation are administered by the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission with support from the Department of Veterans' Affairs. The Commission took over responsibility of determining and managing claims from 'MCRS' (the Military Compensation and Rehabilitation Service) on 1 July 2004.
Current and former members of the Australian Defence Force are entitled to claim rehabilitation, treatment and compensation in the unfortunate event of an injury or disease as a result of service. Benefits are also payable to some dependents for service-related death.
The military compensation schemes focus on providing rehabilitation services to help members who do suffer from an injury or disease as a result of their service make as full a recovery as possible.
If you are considering lodging a claim under the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (for service prior to 1 July 2004) or Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004 (for service on or after 1 July 2004), you should contact Young Diggers first. Young Diggers will assess your claim and either provide assistance with submitting all the necessary paperwork or refer you to Australia's leading military compensation law firm. Subject to the terms and conditions of any fee and retainer agreement, you may receive an offer of assistance on a 'No Win - No Fee' basis.
