The Dog Squad is training rescued dogs to become Assistance Dogs to support the rehabilitation of our serving and ex-serving Australian Defence Force members who are dealing with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD). This unique program is helping more than just the individuals. The Dog Squad helps Defence families to better cope with the effects of PTSD and saves the lives of abandoned dogs. Throughout this program, Young Diggers provide help and practical support to enhance the quality of life for both the dog and their new owner.
This project is about saving lives by providing practical support to diggers and raising awareness of Post Traumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD) and Defence suicides. A group of Young Diggers have been set the major challenge of restoring a 1973 F100 Ambulance to drive around Australia to educate the public and deliver mental health programs to ex-serving personnel who now live in areas where support is not readily available.
This is a five day camp for serving and ex-serving Army, Navy, and Air Force personnel who are in need of a little chilling out and military style companionship.
One of the highlights of the camps is the discussions while sitting around the campfire at night. Dates and further details are available here.
